We continue 2017 with our tradition of Redbones Last Wednesday Monthly Poetry Nights.  This month we will be featuring Malachi & Abebe Payne.  As always the performances will be followed by an Open Mic where audience participation is encouraged.   For those who love Spoken Word, this night is for you!!

Malachi Smith is an accomplished Jamaican writer of poetry and plays, and an actor, performing in his own plays and other productions in live theatre and on radio and television. He is a fellow of the University of Miami’s Mitchner Caribbean Writer’s Institute where he studied poetry under Lorna Goodison and play writing under Fred D’Aguilar.

A kaleidoscope of literary devices met with purpose made verbally entertaining may best describe Abebe Payne’s chants. His black conscious oriented works are steeped in contemporary dub culture. Dealing with emotional and social struggles he aims to encourage perseverance through depictions of reality and utterances of positive vibes.
