Our Monthly Poetry Night returns with Samuel J. Gordon and Weston Gregory. As always the featured performances will be followed by an Open Mic Session open to everyone.
Samuel Gordon learned to write as a child under the initial tutelage of his mother, the late Grace Walker-Gordon. He has been the face of CVM TV’s Sports Watch for the past 4 years and has worked for other media entities such as JNN Jamaica News Network. He is a news presenter, live television producer, a video editor, and a voice actor. He is a member of the Poetry Society of Jamaica, once winner of the Redbones Poet of the Year and has been a featured performer at the Calabash Int’l Literary Festival. Calabash published his work in their Anthology “So Many Things to Say” alongside poems by some of those who have inspired him all his life.
Weston Gregory started writing poem early in his life and was said to have a “sweet mouth”. He has had the privilege of performing on Smile Jamaica and has had severalpieces published in the Sunday and daily paper. He was recipient of the Reader Choice Award for the American Poet Society in 2002 and is a 2006 Silver Award recipient in dub poetry from JCDC. He is the author of “Thoughts and Emotions” which was distributed island wide by Novelty Traders and Kingston book shop.
