Redbones is deeply saddened by the passing of Jamaican veteran trombonist Nambo Robinson at his home on Wednesday January 25th. He was a member of the Redbones family and performed here on numerous occasions, including the opening of Redbones Argyle Road. He was an extremely generous, kind and positive person who consistently mentored younger musicians while he himself was a veteran musician, vocalist, percussionist and recording artist. He recorded with Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Jimmy Cliff, Lauryn Hill, Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Beres Hammond, Shaggy, and Buju Banton. He’s performed with Aretha Franklin, Gladys Knight, The Four Tops, Lloyd Parks and We the People, The Tony D’Acosta Affair, The Boris Gardener Happening, Light of Saba and Mystic Revelation of Rastafari. He was a true expert in reggae music, but equally versed in jazz, classical and R&B. He is a legend who will be greatly missed.
His next scheduled Redbones performance would have been on Saturday February 18th, 2017. Following his death, we will be hosting a TRIBUTE SHOW in his honor on the same day.
