Nambo Robinson and the Idren Workshop strives to shed light on Jamaica’s musical diversity through education and entertainment. Ronald “Nambo” Robinson, is a veteran musician, vocalist, percussionist and recording artist in Jamaica and is recognized as one of Jamaica’s foremost trombonists. He has recorded with various artists such as Bob Marley, Dennis Brown, Jimmy Cliff, Lauryn Hill, Gregory Isaacs, Peter Tosh, Bunny Wailer, Beres Hammond, Shaggy, and Buju Banton and performed live with Aretha Franklin and Gladys Knight amoung others. He is a true expert in composing reggae music.
In the late 1950s, Count Ossie (with other percussionists) formed the Count Ossie Group. He later formed “Mystic Revelation Of Rastafari” and during his life issued two albums that he recorded with them. His masterpiece was theGrounation three-LP set (1973), which includes songs such as “Oh Carolina”, “So Long”, and “Grounation”. Two years later Tales Of Mozambique was issued, continuing the legacy of the first album. Count Ossie died in 1976, aged 50 in an auto accident. His son Count Ossie Jr. continues the Mystic Revelation of Rastafari.
